Grandfather Clock Workshop
Monday June 20th – Friday June 24th
Sommerfeld’s Tools For Wood is offering a unique class on grandfather clock building this summer the week of June 20th-24th. The class will take place on the Wayne State College campus in Benthack Hall, Wayne, Nebraska, which is Located in NE Nebraska. The class will be taught by a former Wayne State Graduate, Marc Sommerfeld. Marc has 17 years of teaching experience where he implemented a clock building program at his high school. The program was a very successful program resulting in over one hundred 7 foot tall clocks being built the last 4 years. After his 17 year teaching career, Marc went on to start a thriving cabinetmaking business while also forming a tool design company which included designing router bits for an Italian router bit manufacturer. In the past 15 years, he has traveled the country giving seminars at woodworking show events along with running his own woodworking tool catalog business. Marc now has his own tool company, Sommerfeld Tools.
Helping Marc with the class will be Roger Moeller an associate of Marc's and Don Burynek from Wayne State College. Both have extensive knowledge in the field of woodworking. Each participant, in cooperation with the rest of the class, will build their own clock in 5 day. It will be a very intense but satisfying 5 days of work.
There will be a 2 hour DVD and plans provided to participants at the start of the class. The plans and DVD show the proven step-by-step process involved. One thing Marc insists of is near perfection so plan on taking an heirloom piece of work home with you. You can also preview the DVD on youtube. Just look under the Sommerfeld Tools YouTube Channel and type in 'grandfather clock made easy'.
